What is virtual staging?

The process of adding realistic furniture, rugs, lighting and décor to a photo of an empty (or furnished) room using AI or digital design tools, so the room looks furnished. The room's architecture — walls, windows, floor — is preserved; only décor is added.

An empty apartment photo often looks cold and small to a buyer, because there is nothing to give a sense of scale. Virtual staging fills that gap: a correctly scaled sofa, bed or dining table is placed onto the real photo of the room, turning the space into somewhere liveable.

In traditional (physical) staging, real furniture is moved in, arranged and photographed. In virtual staging, all you need is a photo of the empty room — the rest is done digitally in minutes.

How does virtual staging work?

With an AI-based tool, virtual staging typically follows these steps:
